Generate New Insights on Consumer Effects of Different Food Product Information Systems
Objectives:
- providing rigorous and functional evidence to understand the effects of different information systems on food products, particularly alternative FoPL methods, with detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the system proposed by the Italian System;
- providing evidence of the actual and potential influence of these systems and FoPL on changes in attitudes and consumption behaviors related to food products;
- ensure progressive and continuous exploration of the topic through further research and experiments aimed at generating consumer insights and original, distinctive knowledge to be disseminated in international academic publications focusing on consumer attitudes, behaviors, food culture, and nutritional well-being.
Conclusion of the project yielded:
- 4 scientific contributions in the form of: (a) articles and papers presenting and discussing research results to be submitted through formal processes to leading Journals and Conferences (with proceedings publication) within the international academic community; (b) conferences/working papers or articles with a more managerial approach on the research outcomes for publication in reviews, magazines (print and digital), websites, social networks, blogs, or other relevant online platforms for target audiences; (c) essays and monographs aimed at presenting and discussing models, research, and results produced in different phases of the project.
The project was contracted in 2020, with activities conducted partly in 2020 and partly in 2021.
Understanding the Effects on Consumers of Different Information Systems on Food Products
Objectives:
- providing rigorous and functional evidence to understand the effects on consumers of different information systems on food products, particularly alternative FoPL methods, with detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the system proposed by the Italian System;
- providing evidence of the actual and potential influence of these systems and FoPL on changes in attitudes and consumption behaviors related to food products;
- ensure progressive and continuous exploration of the topic through further research and experiments aimed at generating original and distinctive consumer insights to be disseminated in international academic publications focusing on consumer attitudes, behaviors, food culture, and nutritional well-being.
The deliverables of the project will therefore include from 4 to 6 scientific contributions, which may take the form of:
- articles and papers presenting and discussing research results to be submitted through formal processes to leading Journals and Conferences (with proceedings publication) within the international academic community;
- conferences/working papers or articles with a more managerial approach on the research outcomes for publication in reviews, magazines (print and digital), websites, social networks, blogs, or other relevant online platforms for target audiences;

The project was contracted in 2021, with activities conducted partly in 2021 and partly in 2022.
Generating New Knowledge on the Effects for Consumers of Different Information Systems on Food Products (1)
The research project developed by the Luiss-X.ITE Research Center, based on the requirements of the stakeholders, is structured with a multifaceted and multi-method approach, previously experimented with and validated over past years. Specifically, the project includes the following components:
- consolidation and deepening of fundamental elements (e.g., bundling) to better understand the consumer mechanisms underlying behavioral decisions and how they can be integrated within FOPL;
- development of new experimental research areas related to consumer decision-making processes, including the introduction, observation, and testing of the effects of new behavioral variables;
- introduction of new conceptual elements and experimental variables to enhance and strengthen understanding of the relative effects of different FOPL labels.
The project was contracted in 2022, with activities spanning partly in 2022 and partly in 2023.
Generating New Knowledge on the Effects for Consumers of Different Information Systems on Food Products (2)
The research project developed by the Luiss-X.ITE Research Center, based on the requirements of the stakeholders, is structured with a multifaceted and multi-method approach, previously experimented with and validated over past years. Specifically, the project includes the following components:
- consolidation and deepening of fundamental elements to better understand the underlying mechanisms of consumer behavioral decisions regarding food products and how they can be effectively informed through alternative FoPL systems.
- development of new experimental research areas related to consumer decision-making processes, including the introduction, observation, and testing of the effects of new behavioral variables;
- introduction of new conceptual elements and experimental variables to enhance and strengthen understanding of the relative effects of different FoPL labels.
The project was contracted in the autumn of 2023, with activities scheduled for part of 2023 and part of 2024.
